VINE VOICE

I have used a "turret" camera from another manufacturer for several years and was always happy with it before it died recently. Out of loyalty I bought a replacement from the same manufacturer but was disappointed to find that I couldn't find a "like for like" replacement Within the first few minutes I began the set up and was presented with an ongoing series of "nags" for their cloud service. It seemed that all they wanted was to have their hand constantly in my pocket.
So I returned to Amazon the same evening and purchased this one.
I now have my turret camera.
Quality looks great! Set up was easy (via a phone app) and while they appear to have a cloud service they appear to be just as happy for me to store recordings locally and are not nagging me to subscribe.
The camera seems to offer other protocols so (while I haven't attempted it) may be compatible with pc based recording as well.
I need a birthday gift for someone soon who knows that I use I.P. cameras and I will happily gift one (or more) to them with the confidence that I am not also gifting them an ongoing headache of needing a subscription.

BEST REMOTE CAMERA

IN JULY 2023, I HAVE TO TAKE A BUSINESS TRIP FOR A WEEK. I BOUGHT 3 WANSVIEW WIRELESS SECURITY CAMERAS, ONE PUT IN THE BEDROOM, TWO IN THE KITCHEN, AND LIVING SPACE IN ORDER TO WATCH MY CATS. THE CAMERA WAS VERY EASY TO CONNECT TO THE WIFI. THERE WAS AN INSTRUCTION INSIDE EACH BOX AND YOU JUST NEED TO FOLLOW THE STEPS. TO MY SUPRISE, THIS CAMERA HAS A VERY WIDE RANGE TO MOVE VERTICALLY AND HORIZONTALLY. NOT MENTION IT'S SO CLEAR TO SEE IN THE DARK MODE. I DOWNLOADED AN APP AND PUT MOTION ALERT. BUT IT'S SO SENSITIVE I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF. I ALSO PURCHASED ONE WEEK CLOUD PLAN TO SAVE THE VIDEOS ONLINE. THE CAMERA LOOKS HAVE GOOD QUALITY AND FULL FUNCTION TO SUPPORT WHAT I NEED. MY FRIEND HAD A BABY LAST MONTH. SO I ALSO RECOMMEND SHE INSTALL THIS CAMERA IN HER BABY'S ROOM WHERE SHE CAN HEAR AND SPEAK WITH HER BABY. I'D LIKE TO TRY THIS AWESOME FUNCTION NEXT TIME TO SEE IF MY CATS CAN STILL RECOGNIZE MY VOICE LOL

Easy and Efficient Solution for Monitoring

I used to have a problem with "porch pirates" taking my packages as soon as they were delivered. After a lot of reviews research, I decided this was the best option for me. It was a quick and easy setup with the multi band router from my cable company. The instructions are clear that it will NOT work on 5G so the wifi must be the lower setting. After I got the phone app working the camera was placed where it had a good view of the package delivery area. A few days later a package was delivered and a great video was recorded of the thieves. The police were grateful for the video and easily caught them. That alone made the price of this camera worth it as we have had no problems since.

Easy setup

Took 5-7 minutes to setup. I am very pleased with the size and style of this camera. There’s a ladies voice that comes out of the camera during setup, which is loud and clear to hear. The picture quality is exactly as described and is good enough for me 🤷🏻♀️. There’s a very basic user manual included in the box, but it is very simple to understand and follow.
I have played with the settings a little and there’s a feature for motion detection where you can set up to 2 “schedules” to follow. Just like on your phone, these schedules allow you to choose the time frame and days of the week.
I had difficulty figuring out the pan/tilt feature. Not sure I will ever need it but it’s nice to have. Instructions for this is not in the manual online or in the box. Just a google search away.
So far I am very happy with the product and if I needed another one, I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase this brand. 🙂

Did everything I wanted, but didn't do anything well.

I bought 2 of these cameras. What I wanted was to capture motion, get instant notification on my phone, and the ability to view the most recent motion and any motion captured for at least the past couple weeks. This does all of that, with some limitations.
Motion detection: Detects motion very well. No false detections in several hundred notifications. However, there were a few cases where the captured video started a second or two after the motion started. Usually, the device captures a few seconds before motion starts.
Notifications: Notifications arrive at my phone around 10 seconds after the camera detects motion and seem to be very reliable.
Viewing the capture motion right after a notification: This is not great. You get a notification, and you tap it to view the video associate with the "alert", but you can't just view it, you have to download it to your phone first, and it usually takes a couple of minutes to download a few seconds of video. I'm guessing this is better if you subscribe to the cloud service. However, there is a workaround, which is to just view it through the timestamped interface (next paragraph), but sometimes, the most recent captures don't show up there for a few minutes.
Viewing captured motion from the past 2 weeks: There are two ways to do this. The first is to subscribe to their cloud service, which I didn't do, so I have no experience with that. The second is to install local storage (microSD/TF Card) in the camera. I bought a 128GB microSD card for each camera (cost $11 each) and it worked for my needs. The cameras each captured a couple hundred alerts over 2 weeks, each with a few seconds to a couple minutes of video. To view video this way, you can go to your devices in Wansview then click the "clock" icon on the device and browse all of the captured video. The interface is poor though. It defaults to the current day, so if it's 1 second after midnight, you will see no alerts for today and have to change to the previous day, instead of just tapping the previous button to find the most recent capture. Also, the app tends to hang often while skipping from one captured video segment to the next, or switching to a different date. Closing and restarting the app always fixes it, so I know it's not the camera or the network connection.
The video quality is much worse than I expected, which surprised me since many reviews say it's great. The night vision works better than I thought it would, although I wouldn't call it good. The software is what needs the most work. It hangs a lot. At least 1 out of 3 times that I use the app, I have to close it and restart it to solve a hang issue. It seems like more of a prototype than a production app.
I'm a bit put off by the seller/manufacturer offering me free merchandise in exchange for a good review. They e-mailed me 4 times offering a choice of a $5 gift card, two months of cloud subscription, or a free camera. Good products will get good reviews without needing to bribe purchasers. That should speak volumes for the _actual_ quality, reliability, and functionality of this product, which is just barely mediocre.
