Effective Date: 1 May 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Simple Sketchbook ("the App", "we", "our") handles information when you use our iPad application. We take your privacy seriously.
The short version: the App collects no personal data, sends nothing to any server, and stores everything exclusively on your device.
By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
We do not collect, transmit, or store any of the following:
Your name, email address, or any other personally identifying information
Your drawings, sketches, notes, or any content you create in the App
Your Apple ID, iCloud details, or any account credentials
Device identifiers, advertising IDs, or analytics tokens
Location data
Crash reports or diagnostic data sent to our servers
Usage statistics or behavioural analytics
All data created by the App — including sketchbook names, page content, layer configurations, paper style preferences, background colours, and drawing strokes — is stored exclusively in your device's local storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to export or share it yourself.
Ink stroke data is stored in Apple's PencilKit format. Image layers are stored as PNG files. All files reside inside the App's sandboxed container on your device.
The App can generate backup files with the .sketchbook extension. These files contain your sketchbook's metadata and all drawing content. They are created locally on your device and are only shared when you explicitly tap "Share Backup" and choose a destination.
We have no access to any backup files you create. If you save a backup to iCloud Drive, it is governed by Apple's iCloud privacy policy. If you share it via a third-party service, that service's own privacy policy applies. We recommend saving backups to a location only you control.
The App offers an optional lock feature for individual sketchbooks. When enabled, it uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework to verify your identity via Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode.
The App never has access to your biometric data. Authentication is handled entirely by Apple's operating system. The App only receives a simple pass/fail result and stores nothing related to biometrics itself.
If you choose to import an image onto a canvas, the App will request permission to access your Photos library. This permission is used solely to let you select an image to add to your drawing. The App does not browse, index, copy, or upload your photo library.
You can revoke Photos access at any time in Settings > Privacy & Security > Photos on your iPad.
Simple Sketchbook does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDKs. The App contains no advertising and does not participate in any ad-targeting network.
The App uses only Apple's first-party frameworks: SwiftUI, UIKit, PencilKit, SwiftData, AVFoundation, and LocalAuthentication.
Simple Sketchbook does not require an internet connection and makes no network requests of any kind. There are no servers, no accounts, and no cloud sync features built into the App.
Because the App collects no data whatsoever, it is safe for users of all ages, including children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
If we ever update this Privacy Policy, the new version will be posted on our website and the App Store page, and the effective date at the top of this document will be updated. Continued use of the App after a policy change constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
Because the App currently collects no data, any future changes would only be necessary if new features requiring data access are introduced — and we would communicate those changes clearly in advance.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy, please contact us through the support link on the App Store page. We aim to respond to all enquiries within 5 business days.
