Today(5.4.2021),Japan Airlines(JAL) has used the major 777 grounding to retire the type operating with PW4000s and operating domestically from its fleet. With the majority of aircraft in its repertoire powered by Pratt and Whitney(which recently was caught in controversy with UNITED flight 328), it makes sense for this decision to have taken place.
Simple Aviation understands that the GE90 powered 777s will continue to operate internationally for the near future.
