Description: This hands-on in person training introduces medical professionals to this research-based practice (SCA) to facilitate smoother communication between patients diagnosed with aphasia and staff. The principles presented provide keys to acknowledge the competency of these adults, and allow for rich and meaningful exchanges. Key terminology is defined, techniques are presented and practiced, and participants are debriefed on the training experience.
Usage: In-person training session for clinicians, delivered using standardized patients. Participants leave the training with a spiral-bound SCA book that can be used at the bedside.
