Today, our world is more connected than ever, people are being able to communicate with people from all around the world without even getting out of their homes. As well, rates of migrating families are increasing every day. Either by choice or by force people are moving to other countries with the intention of improving their quality of life. Therefore, it is not a surprise that the number of multilingual children is growing and it is bringing new challenges to the educational field.
The way children are learning new languages must change. Instead of dividing and categorizing, we must embrace the acquisition from a holistic approach in which emotions, cognition, memory and interactions are taken into consideration and therefore, provide personalized opportunities where children can express themselves with all the resources in their repertoires while they discover and strengthen their true and unique identity.
