A key part of our ensemble identity and pride is our performance uniform. This guide will walk you through how uniforms are provided, fitted, and cared for throughout the year.
How Uniforms are Funded
All formal performance attire is rented through the school. The cost for this rental and its upkeep is covered by the annual $100 "Fair Share" contribution. This fee, which can be paid directly or offset through our fundraising efforts, allows us to provide a professional and unified look for all our student musicians without the high cost of individual purchases.
Fittings and Alterations
To ensure every student looks their best, uniforms are individually fitted. We have partnered with Daytona Tuxedo for any necessary professional alterations, such as hemming pants. The cost of these adjustments is covered by the SSMS Band Boosters.
Important Uniform Care and Return Policies
All uniform pieces, except for the polo shirt for graduating 8th graders, are rentals and must be returned at the end of the school year.
The tuxedo pants feature adjustable buckles in the waistband to help with minor size adjustments.
Please do not make any permanent alterations to the uniform. All items must be returned in good condition.
Graduating 8th-grade students may keep their red band polo shirt as a memento of their time in the band program.
What Students Need to Provide
While the core uniform is rented, families are responsible for providing:
Solid Black Dress Shoes
Solid Black Socks
We recommend looking for inexpensive options at second-hand stores or online to keep costs down.
