For this specific assignment, I was tasked with creating a survey to collect data relevant to my research question. Initially, I found this to be quite challenging as I wasn't sure where to start. While coming up with questions related to my topic seemed relatively easy, actually getting started proved to be more difficult than expected. Personally, the most challenging part was deciding on the most effective question format to gather the desired data. I encountered difficulties in formulating multiple-choice options and ended up including an "other" option for each answer whenever possible. Currently, I believe my question formatting is clear and specific in addressing what I need to inquire about, but I remain open to further revisions if necessary.
Up until this point, my research paper had primarily involved expanding my knowledge through the examination of existing sources. However, the time came when I had to embark on conducting my own research! This particular aspect of the research paper was more exhilarating for me, and I found the process of creating and designing my own survey to be quite enjoyable. I took pleasure in organizing my thoughts and infusing a touch of femininity and intelligence into the survey design! However, I was surprised to find that many of my results did not align closely with my initial research findings. While some correlations were evident, the majority did not match my expectations. I attribute this discrepancy to a lack of proper external validity in my research. The majority of my sample consisted of students from a small UC Davis class, and diversity was not as prevalent as desired. The sample mainly comprised high-income, privileged students, which could explain the deviation in my results..
