After years left stranded with little to no help from the wider Wizarding World, those affected by Lycanthropy can now find shelter, a safe haven during full moon nights, and a team that will go the extra mile to ensure comfort and safety.
The infected, or 'guests', do not need to worry about discrimination or fret about where they intend to spend full moons, and if they will be safe there.
Visits to Shoeburyness Lupin Sanctum (Also known as SLS) are not mandatory, they are an option, an alternative to spending full moons at the Ministry of Magic.
With every new project and experience there is always going to be challenges, but the staff at SMCC take every precaution possible to limit these where possible.
Precautions include, but are not limited to:
Limited paper trail - No delicate information shared via letters
Physical & magical protections / barriers
DRCMC inspections
Limited interaction during transformation
Different areas within the enclosure for privacy and security
Animagi on-hand to break up any conflict during transformation
SLS is more than a sanctuary to show up, transform, and vanish the next morning. While that is an option, SMCC staff will also provide a selection of necessities prior to transformation, and after. This includes but is not limited to food and drink, company, and a place to rest. A routine is important, it offers consistency and comfort in knowing what to expect.
A typical full moon at SLS may look a little like this:
Arrival 2-3+ hours before transformation
An optional meal will be provided
Tour of the sanctuary (For first-time arrivals)
Enter Sanctum 30-45 minutes before transformation
All non-essential (Non Animagi) staff leave, and doors are locked
Doors remain locked until the following morning
Another optional meal will be offered
Pick up/Drop off - Staff can help guests get home
For family/friends who pick up, times will be spaced out to limit exposure of anyone who wishes to remain private.
It is never our aim to out one guest to another, or to visitors, either accidently or otherwise. That said, should you agree to spend your full moons at SLS, you are going to see others during your stay who are also affected by and going through their own trials with Lycanthropy as well. There will also be staff. When necessary, we can make arrangements to alter a guests stay to protect privacy.
If you intend to have a family member or friend pick you up after the full moon, please be sure to supply their name and wand details to a member of SMCC staff. This is so we do not turn anyone away who is meant to be present, as anyone who is unexpected will not be permitted access to the Clinic grounds. If not, staff can help get you home.
The provided information here is not all encompassing. While we have listed primary concerns and points, we also ask those who involve themselves in Shoeburyness Magical Creature Care and Shoeburyness Lupin Sanctum conduct themselves with care, consideration, and common sense. There may be situations and interactions that come up which we have not considered or mentioned, but they should still be treated as respectfully as possible.
