After completing their sixth year in Hogwarts school, Tragen & Ignatious dropped out and began a two year journey to plan, set up, and open their own non-prophet Magical Creature Reserve. They knew what they wanted to do, and how, it was a matter of making it work. They traveled to many different locations around the Wizarding world, even to some Muggle locations, seeking out creatures for the Reserve. It wasn't until they came across a Diricawl that could no longer disappear and reappear as expected that the brothers decided that their new project wouldn't be about bringing in just any magical creature, but ones that needed extra care, whether from an injury, accident, or a defect.  Poppin the Diricawl is still with the brothers today.

Over time, they got permission from the Ministry of Magic to set up a location with all the spells and charms required, including an undetectable expansion charm and muggle repellent charms. The location they chose was in Shoeburyness, Southend-on-sea, in what appeared to muggles as an abandoned one level building. For the next while the brothers took the time building up the interior of the Shoeburyness location, making sure that it had the space required for the creatures they had found and that each of the creatures had a section of their own where they felt at home.

The Shoeburyness Reserve location was a success despite it's grand opening being kept quiet while the brothers dealt with family drama. When the pair discovered that there was space in Godrics Hollow they were eager to open up a second but smaller location, one that could still accept creatures and care for them, but could also take on interns, and with the right circumstances in place, could also put on events to raise awareness of the creatures, the dangers they pose, but also the dangers that they face.  Thus, the Godric's Hollow Preserve was born. It appears to muggles as an old, deteriorating forest, but for Wixen the magic and the beauty is revealed.

Muggle Threat

With creatures you never know what to expect, all of them have minds of their own. Clever little beasts! With our Winged Horses and Jarvey getting out one too many times and wandering a Muggle-friendly location like Godric's Hollow, the majority of the Preserve was packed up and temporarily moved back to the main Reserve, until such a time that we can ensure that our sneaky creatures are not going for a stroll all alone. Could you imagine waking up in your bed to Mister the Jarvey insulting the way you mumble or toss around while you are asleep? (Because we can...)

NPC's

Similar to Hogwarts and other IC areas,  there will always be activity around the creatures. Just because a player may not be online does not mean that the Preserve/Reserve doesn't have workers or that creatures have been left unattended. Until positions are filled, and probably after, there will always be NPC Staff & Volunteers working there and caring for the creatures, as well as maintaining either location. There are even staff who live on site.

Not a Zoo!

Both locations are not a place for people to come and stare greedily at the creatures, usually. The staff sometimes do. Definitely sometimes. But in seriousness, they both are places where the creatures are being cared for because of one reason or another. The Preserve is currently closed to the general public, but access to the main location is finally being open for a time. Currently, only staff members can access both locations, or those who have made IC appointments.

Preserve  vs  Reserve

A reserve is where something is taken and kept for a certain amount of time then released, while a Preserve is where something is taken and kept, as well as preserved. Going off of this definition, the Southend-on-sea location is our Reserve, and the Godric's Hollow location is our Preserve. However, they both fall under the name 'Shoeburyness', since they are merely two branches of the same business.

Magivet

This is just a fun nickname that has been given to the Head Magizooligist at the Reserve/Preserve. We ran it by an RPD member.

Private Land

The Reserve has been built on private land, and while the build covers a vast majority of the land that can be accessed, there are sections marked off for private homes. Just like MM, we ask that those spots are respected.

Additionally, if you are there to look around OOC, make sure you have your OOC tag on and that if RP is happening at the same time, be respectful of it. If you happen to sneak in while IC, it is best to do it if someone is online and there to catch you, for the RP of it, of course. Because yes, someone will likely catch you, or see you.
