Information about each creature at the Reserve

Stubby

Crup - MaleStatus: Permanent Resident

The Shoeburyness family pet, he has no seriously injuries or illnesses and there's nothing special about him, other than how loving and friendly he can be to just about anyone. He is, however, missing one of his tails. This is the face that greets most guests when they step in the main building.

Poppin

Diricawl - MaleStatus: Permanent Resident

This little guy was the first creature the Ashworth brothers came across and adopted. Unlike the rest of his kind, he is completely unable to teleport and instead he sort of pops around a couple feet at a time, hence his name. He's a mischievous little guy and very social, he will even walk up to people and greet them, if he is in the mood. He has become quite a personality and loves to show off his tail feathers.

Mamma Blynken

Moofcalf - FemaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Blynken was born at the Shoeburyness location, her mother had come in as a rescue. She was born with one limp leg, and was moved to the Godrics Hollow location shortly after having two of her own offspring, Wynken and Nod. Despite her condition, she is thriving well and often puts us in our own place. Mothers...

Our three Mooncalfs are a special little bunch. Most times you will not see this creature out during the day, they tend to come out at specific times and remain hidden away in their den for the rest of the time. What makes these three special is that they've become so comfortable and feel at home within the enclosed Preserve, with it's one way in and out by ground, that they have claimed the entire interior space as their den, allowing them to roam more freely, and allowing us to see them a lot more and enjoy their company.

Wynken

Moofcalf - MaleStatus: Permanent Resident

First born to Blynken. While friendly, this little one loves to stay near his mother and he is very protective of her. He is perfectly healthy as far as we can see, albeit rather shy at times. Many times we find him letting his mother lean on him when her condition becomes too much. Their bond is simply unique and something we love to see.

Nod

Moofcalf - MaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Second born to Blynken, Nod is our very own wild child of the group. He really likes to run off and explore, which makes it hard for his mother and her handicap. So we do our best to keep him close to her. But sometimes he manages to go for a good little adventure. If you happen to see him wandering around, please return him!

Jack

Jackalope - MaleStatus: Temporary Resident

Jack is one of a pair of Jackalopes that were found after poachers cut off their antlers. He is otherwise healthy, but does tend to snack a little too much at times.

Alope

Jackalope - FemaleStatus: Temporary Resident

Alope is the other half of the Jackalope pair. They live in the Reserve now and are being well cared for, but they will act shy and scared when someone gets to close to their heads.

The Herd

HorklumpsStatus: Permanent Resident

The Horklumps are a unique addition to our family, they don't appear to have any individual personality, injury, or defect, but they found themselves a place with us all on their own, and we're happy to have them.

Slick

Winged Horse - MaleStatus: Temporary Resident

Slick's previous owner was negligent, as such Slick will over eat and make himself sick. Extra care is needed when feeding him. Once the feeding is out of the way,  he's friendly and trustworthy to a fault. He can be such a sweetheart at times, and he seems to love cameras and will try to photobomb us when we are taking pictures of the other creatures. Show off!

Stitch

Winged Horse - MaleStatus: Temporary Resident

Stitch's last owner ran an illegal horse race, quarterly, and was very rough with the animals, because of this Stitch is shy around people and hostile to unknown males, otherwise he can be pretty friendly once that trust is built up. His entry to the Preserve was made somewhat easier by the presence of Slick.

Nyx

Thestral - FemaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Nyx was born blind in the Hogwarts herd, and she was first transferred to our Godric's location to be cared for and to try to have a long, happy life. Now she wanders our forest habitat with her little one.

Nox

Thestral - MaleStatus: Temporary Resident

This little cutie arrived over the weekend of August 6-8, 2028. He belongs to Nyx, and while he is still too young for us to fully gage his personality, he so far has been pretty playful and excited, for those who can see him. He appears healthy and well. Maybe a bit too healthy as he has the lovable habit to nudge people a bit too hard resulting in them being pushed around. He may be released to the Hogwarts herd when he is a bit older, or we may leave him with his mother.

Bobby

Maledictus  - FemaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Bobby once was a young witch sorted into Hufflepuff at Hogwarts. She was fiercely protective of the underdog and was jokingly called the "Mamma bear"  of the badger den. Getting older she learned a spell to turn her into a bear. Long after graduation she lost more and more control of her ability to control her bear shape and eventually was unable to turn back. Her father, who took care of her, grew too old to continue the care and originally took her to the Preserve, knowing that they would be able to care for her, and let her live her days out in happiness.

Sneaks

Niffler - MaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Our resident Niffler, he still goes for anything shiny, but he has a weak left eye from an accident involving some hot metal, so even though he is still capable of living a comfortable life, he is kept with us as a precaution. He also is very jumpy to anyone who comes up on his left side. Keep an eye open for him, like Nod, he enjoys exploring all the places he shouldn't be in.

Beau

Fwooper - FemaleStatus: Permanent Resident

We're not quite sure how, but our little beauty was found in the African wilds with damaged vocal cords. She likes to be sung to. A lot. Most times she will try to sing on her own, but cannot, and it's in those moments that she will really bond with someone if they sing for her.

Mister

Jarvey - MaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Mister joined us on his own. We're not kidding... He showed up one day and never left! He loves to insult, and try to beat Stubby to all of the comfortable spots inside. He even likes to try to insult Stubby. We're convinced at Mister believes Stubby can understand him. That's really all there is about him. He's another family pet that likes to keep us on our toes. We know he loves us, in his own way...

Jeomjaengi "JJ"

Demiguise - MaleStatus: Status: Permanent Resident

Our Demiguise was first being treated at the Reserve to try to rehabilitate him after a fire destroyed his home and burned and scarred his face. Due to trauma, he no longer goes invisible and it seems as though he now interprets the future incorrectly. He wasn't making enough progress and the prospect of releasing him back into the wild was fading each day. On August 8th 2028 was moved to the Preserve for continual care, but with the few incidents of wandering creatures, like most creatures at the Preserve, he was transferred back to the Reserve.

Grin

Guinea Pig/Piggybank - FemaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Grin & Gotts started out as two basic, ordinary piggy banks, probably for a small Wixen child, it is unknown why they needed two. To this day it is also unknown who left the pair on the doorstep of the Preserve. But, when they were found, they were squeaking loudly and in discomfort. The underage magic, caused by a temper tantrum, turned them from banks to actual guinea pigs, leaving the piggies with coins still inside of them. (Continued below)

Gotts

Guinea Pig/Piggybank - MaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Guinea pigs were a challenge to the workers of the Preserve, they were an unusual creature to work with. However, the coins were eventually removed and the piggies healed up. They probably should have been restored back to little banks but after all the work to save them and nurture them back to health, they had touched the hearts of the workers at the Preserve, and now remain as pets.

Ginger

Kneazle - Female

Ginger was dropped off by an anonymous benefactor with a donation to Shoeburyness, and a note that said "A promise of things to come." A little mysterious, but this little lady was given a clean bill of health after her arrival and had been a joy to keep around either of our locations. After a long day of working with larger, damaged creatures, she is a quite breath of fresh air in the evenings.

Lenny

Knarl - MaleStatus: Permanent Resident

This big guy is still a bit of a mystery, though every once in a while he shows signs of a creature that has been abused during his life, and he still has an intense fear of rope.

Mini

Knarl - FemaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Mini is Lenny's mate, and while she is healthy and happy, we cannot get her to leave his side, she is exceptionally protective of him..

Sweetie

Knarl - FemaleStatus: Permanent Resident

This little cutie also arrived over the weekend of August 6-8, 2028, born to Lenny and Mini. Though still very young, she had been a delight and had even managed to help calm Lenny's anxieties .. a little.

Richard

Cockatrice - MaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Richard is old and even more aggressive than others of his kind. That is rooted in him being almost blind due to Cataracs and he needs to be handled with upmost care.

Daga

Occamy - FemaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Daga was born and lived in freedom in India until she was found and captured by someone who needed money, a lot of money. Knowing that Occamy eggs were highly valuable the owner used her to breed the silver shelled eggs and sell them for good money. But he got greedy and did what he could to ensure a constant flow of silver eggs.

One day Daga stopped laying them, no matter what her owner tried she wouldn't lay eggs any more so he abandoned his former cash cow. She was found traumatized, anxious and withdrawn, by a magizoologist, who heard of the Shoeburyness locations from a colleague (Anahid) and left Daga in their care.

Griffy

Griffin - MaleStatus: Permanent Resident

Griffy joined us after he tried to fight a werewolf and ended up with a nasty gash in his shoulder, rendering him unable to use that wing to fly. His injury aside, he can be very playful, as playful as a griffin can be, though he gets frustrated easily anytime he gets over excited and tries to fly, but cant. After this, he tends to spend the rest of the day sulking.

If you see a fox anywhere near his home, try to shoo it away. They taunt each other for some reason.
