Water Rebates

Since water bills are one of the big expenses for Shiloh, I'd like to talk about some ideas. One idea is to install High Efficiency toilets in the units as much as possible. I have just done this with my unit. It turns out that Lowes carried a high efficiency toilet for $98 in spring 2012. The North Washington Street Water and Sanitation District, through Denver water, offers a rebate for $125, before March 15th, and $75 after March 15th for that or a similar toilet. I have attached the rebate form I filled out. Here is a link to the web site where you can get the rebate form and make sure you have a qualifying model:

If every unit in Shiloh were to install a high efficiency toilet and washing machine, I think we would see a lower cost for the operations.

If you do fill out the rebate form, you will need the Account number for Shiloh. That account number depends on your building:

The toilets are economically feasible, as the rebate is more money than the outlay for materials. The washing machines are harder to justify economically, except that the high efficiency washers leave clothing dryer coming out, saving money on electricity for drying.

Please e-mail me (Andrew Been) to ask if you have any questions about High Efficiency fixtures having to do with water.

As the summer approaches, we need to also look at the amount of water wasted with our sprinkler system, and see how we can do that better. Please inform JSN about any leaks you see, and any misbehaving sprinklers you might observe, so that information can be forwarded back to the board to handle.
