Resusing a Google Form to collect spreadsheet data
Instead of inputting data manually, you can use Google Forms to collect data. All form response data can be sent to either a new or existing spreadsheet. Using forms can be a great way to accept event registrations and signups, collect survey and poll data, assess students, collect student and parent information, log informprogressing monitoring and intervention data, and so much more!
This video will provide a very brief of overview of Forms and then show you how to choose a new or existing spreadsheet as a destination for the data collected in your form.
If you are looking for more guidance on Google Forms, you can find short tutorials here.
If you are using Forms to collect data, there are things you should keep in mind when creating your form so that the data can be used effectively within your spreadsheet.
When a Google Form is linked to a Google Sheet, each time the form is submitted, the response appears as a new row in the spreadsheet. This video will show you how to adjust the formatting of your response data and how to manipulate that data by adding, hiding, and arranging columns. You'll also see how to quickly access your form from the spreadsheet as well as a few other tips.
You have created an amazing Google Form, formatted the corresponding spreadsheet perfectly, and have collected a large set of data. So what happens when you want to reuse the same form for a new activity, quarter, or school year? Instinctly, most people think the best way to do this is make a copy of the Google Form, but this is actually the least efficient option as you will see in the video. Instead, I will show you two options to most effectively reuse a Google Form and explain the benefits of each.
