The sunset pass so quickly as we look back through the years

And we have seen amazing changes since our natives lived by spears 

And our pioneers cleared the land with crowbar spade and axe

Building homes yards and fences carving out the new bush tracks

And Australian men and women then so proudly went to war

To fight for this great nation and the lifestyle we adore

And those lucky to return open up this virgin land

So it’s now our obligation to give praise and take a stand

So I’m keeping the past alive

Recalling how they struggled to survive

Now the buggy days are over and few neighbours come to call 

The good times slowly faded with our backs against the wall

And my eyes are dim with sadness hospitality is lost

To see how far we have come and know how much it cost
