What I've Learned
This class has taught me so much about the internet and the use of it now and moving forward. I've learned lots of tips and tricks for Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. Like how I can have titles and headers and subheaders in a Word Doc, creating a flow to my work and an ease to finding information. I also learned how to create equations in Excel and just copy the equation without retyping. I learned how to format a PowerPoint to get the point across with ease and to keep the attention from the audience. Some of the biggest things that I'm taking away from this class is the lesson in cyber safety, the emerging technologies presentations, and digital ethics. Cyber safety, firstly, is something that I think should be taught every time when purchasing any type of device that could lead to scams. I have heard countless stories from parents friends or family being lead into these Phishing scams or viruses. People prey on the old and young, and it would benefit everyone if people learned about these scams. The emerging technologies presentations were a bit of an eye opener for what the world will become 20-30 years. Sometimes I am stunned with things we have now like delivery drones, or self-driving cars, or even 3D printable prosthetics. It's incredible to see how much has changed since my parents were younger, like our 20s will look completely different. There are downfalls with technology, of course, but we can only hope most is for good. Lastly, digital ethics is where we let the heart take over. It's important to always think before speaking, especially on the internet. You are able to encounter so many different people online with so many things going on in their own lives. Why make it harder for them to keep going or keep fighting? I try to always put myself in the other person's shoes, because one wrong word can really affect people. Doing the right thing isn't always easy, but it is the right thing. I hope to carry all the lessons from this class with me for a long time.
Signing off,
Shaylee :)
