My first week at SNCS was like a roller coaster of emotions and felt incredibly overwhelming. My initial day was filled with anxiety because this was my first time in a new environment, meeting new people, and I genuinely questioned if I could complete this journey. I met Ma'am Ampongan, my cooperating teacher, who was very kind, which immediately made it easier for me to adjust to the new environment. I started by introducing myself to Grade 8 and Grade 9. Everything went smoothly; the students were busy practicing their task called broadcasting. The next day, I felt much less nervous. The students prepared a performance for the teachers, and my critique teacher brought me to the actual broadcasting presentation. I observed how serious and excellent the students were; they truly did their best while performing. The following two days were spent assisting at the covered court for the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts activities. This was a very memorable experience for me because I was excited to cheer for my students in different games. It was an extremely tiring day; all the energy I started with was gone by the end, but it was absolutely worth it. I realized I was starting to create memories that boost my confidence to continue this journey. Finally, I had a profound realization: the former student who used to greet his/her teachers while walking in the hallway is now standing in front of the classroom and being greeted by his/her own students.
My second week at Sto. Niño Catholic School (SNCS) felt like home. I had already adjusted and adapted to the positive environment. The warm atmosphere was reinforced daily, from the guard's consistent "Good morning" greeting to the friendly exchanges with all teachers and staff in the hallway. Though the week was undeniably tiring, every moment was valuable and memorable. Highlights included a short, heartfelt program for Teachers' Month, where students acknowledged their hardworking advisees by preparing a song, "Salamat" by Yeng Constantino, and presenting small gifts. This was followed by the excitement of Math and Science Month, featuring the "Mr. and Ms. Matsciaka 2025" event, where elementary and senior high school representatives showcased incredible creativity by designing outfits made from recyclable materials.
Following the events, I personally greeted my Cooperating Teacher (CT) for Teacher's Day, giving her a simple gift before proceeding to the classroom I was assigned to assist. There, I helped a Grade 10 student-teacher manage the class while they completed a task assigned by Ma'am Ampongan. Another demanding but instructive day involved checking the textbooks for four sections, a tiring process as many students had not followed instructions and needed to correct their work. The subsequent day brought the review test for all the Grade 8 and 9 sections we handled. This was the pivotal day when I had the opportunity to take the lead, experience handling a Grade 9 class, and speak in front of the students. Though I felt nervous initially, my confidence quickly grew thanks to the support of my CT. I concluded the week by meticulously recording all the student' scores from their textbooks.
It's hard to believe I've reached my third week! I honestly doubted I could finish this at first, but now I feel so happy and accomplished because I've managed to continue this journey. My week began with administrative tasks: inputting scores on the laptop while recording my CT (perhaps Class Tracker or Class Total), and checking other students papers. Soon after, we went to the classroom to administer the periodic exam. I spent my time roaming the room, ensuring students were not talking or cheating. The following day, I used my vacant time to check the test papers. Our task the day after that was to facilitate the special exam for all grade levels, intended for students who were absent during the regular examination week.
This week also involved preparing for upcoming events. We watched some excellent performance practices by the students; the Sto. Niño students are incredibly creative and talented! Following the practices, I spent the rest of the evening assisting the Grade 8 teachers with cutting and preparing props for their students. We worked until 6:00 PM. All in all, this week was very exhausting and draining, but the progress and activity made it worthwhile.
This final week as a student teacher has been incredibly memorable, focused entirely on celebrating Foundation Week with my students, creating memories I will surely treasure. The celebration kicked off with a mass, where each grade level proudly wore a distinct color: Grade 7 in purple, Grade 8 in blue, Grade 9 in pink, Grade 10 in red, Grade 11 in green, and Grade 12 in yellow. Following the mass, we proceeded to the court for the lively grade-level cheer dance competition, which showcased the students' impressive talent. The next day was dedicated to sports, featuring exciting volleyball and basketball games that I truly enjoyed watching. While those events were ongoing, I also completed my administrative tasks, ensuring all textbooks and periodic exams were thoroughly checked and submitted before the week concluded.
The final day brought the culminating events. High school and senior high students enjoyed the inflatable and karaoke area inside the covered court, followed by a meeting for all student teachers and faculty. During this emotional session, each student teacher shared their experiences and observations from the internship, which concluded with the presentation of our Certificates of Completion and a commemorative picture-taking session. Just when we thought the day was over, Ma'am Dupra invited us to join the fun! We hurried back to the court and had an absolute blast singing karaoke and sliding on the big inflatable. It was a perfect, fun-filled way to say goodbye to SNCS and all the wonderful students, teachers, and staff.
