The most important lesson I learned from my overall experience in Field Study 1 and 2 is that being a teacher doesn't end with delivering a lesson within the four walls of the classroom. Instead, the role continues beyond the classroom, encompassing many essential tasks like creating teaching materials, providing moral and emotional support to every student, and much more. While you might sometimes feel that teaching is tiring, if you have a true passion for it, you won't feel that way because you genuinely love what you are doing. A great teacher must always be a lifelong learner and continuously work to encourage their students to reach their full potential and life goals.
My experiences in Field Study 1 and 2 provided me with invaluable preparation. I gained significant knowledge, including how to handle different grade levels and how to adjust my classroom management strategies during my observations. I also had the crucial opportunity to check and record every test and quiz for my students. Because of this practical experience, I feel confident, though I am still naturally nervous, about my upcoming internship. I know the internship will require me to teach students and share my knowledge on various topics, which means I need to be thoroughly prepared. However, with the foundation laid by Field Study 1 and 2, I believe I will be able to adjust easily when I begin my internship.
The teacher qualities I want to improve on relate primarily to Domain 4: Curriculum and Planning and Domain 1: Content Knowledge and Pedagogy of the PPST. I want to enhance my skills in curriculum and planning because, being a student teacher, I must ensure that the lessons I deliver are properly aligned with the students' grade level and learning competencies. Additionally, I need to improve my teaching strategies, as I want to be certain that the methods I employ will be effective and engaging for my future students. I also aim to strengthen my proficiency in content knowledge and pedagogy. I want to master my subject matter so that every time I stand in front of the class, I can confidently facilitate a smooth and clear flow of discussion. This mastery is essential to ensure that the classroom instruction achieves the intended learning objectives by the end of the lesson.
