MONEY HANDLING
Product Program proceeds are always considered troop funds, regardless of whether older girls are saving money for higher awards or Girl Scout travel
In the case of older girls (Cadettes, Seniors, Ambassadors):
Concessions earnings may be reserved by older girls wishing to save funding for higher awards or Girl Scout travel
Money earning activities may be reserved by older girls wishing to save funding for higher awards or Girl Scout travel
Written documentation should be submitted to Customer Care to provide a detailed explanation on the intent of use for the funds for higher awards or Girl Scout travel including approximate travel dates and destination
Troops are not allowed to overdraw their accounts.
All monies are to be deposited into troop bank account.
No cash is to be held on hand.
No cash withdrawals are permitted. However, if it is necessary for a trip or activity, exceptions may be made with the approval of SUT, SUD, or GSCTX membership staff. All receipts must be reconciled with withdrawal amount and any leftover monies returned to troop bank account.
Follow the IRS and GSCTX guidelines on how you are allowed to spend Girl Scout funds:
A signer on a Girl Scout account should not sign a check to reimburse themselves. Always have one of the other signers write and sign the check. It is a good practice, thought not required, to have 2 signers on every check.
It is important to ensure that more than one registered adult in the troop remains knowledgeable about the group's funds.
Do not borrow troop money for personal use; do not mix personal and group money.
Follow GSCTX financial policies and procedures for setting up a troop/group bank account.
Troop/ service unit s are allowed two (2) debit cards per bank account
Please be advised that in the event of misappropriation or misuse of troop funds, a police complaint or criminal prosecution can result
