To get here by public transportation you use bus, cable car, or streetcar:
12, 8, 30, 39, 41, 45, and 91 bus lines pass trough the heart of the 'hood.
Powell/Hyde and Powell Mason cable cars (will drop you 2 or 3 blocks away from The Vortex.
E Embarcadero or F Market streetcar will drop you off at the waterfront for a good 8'ish block walk, take a stroll up Broadway (...a tad shady but the hey it's the real deal) or climb the steps (Filbert or Grenwitch) for a true rural experience.
