Rainer Newmann's new series is called Homeland Serenity: Pastel Drawings and Haikus, a playful meditation on the Northern California beauty that has lent many of us serenity in this last year of struggle. His fearless use of color and the occasional figure transcend the ordinary landscape painting and invite the seer to enter the dreamscape, while the drawings' companion haikus tease, provoke, and soothe all in one resplendent art moment. He lives in Half Moon Bay.
