Nestled into a sweet residential North Beach street lined with luscious trees, Sweetie's Art Bar is more than a bar—it's a neighborhood pool hall, art gallery, and community gathering place for locals and visitors alike, tucked away from the bustling commerce of Columbus Avenue. Proprietor Flicka McGurrin is not only an avid collector and purveyor of fine art—she's also a painter in her own right whose works are featured prominently in San Francisco's City Hall. On special occasions and when the weather is fine, you may even be lucky enough to find their secret backyard garden patio open to the public. Order up a snack, a cold draft or a glass of California red, and contemplate the ever-revolving roster of visual delights while you wait for your turn to shoot some stick under the watchful gaze of the main room's giant Buddha.

A shot by chance. Taken in the winter at a beach during the King Tides. I was able to get on the ocean side of the tide pool due to the extreme low tide and capture the cliffs reflected in the water left behind by the earlier high tide.
