Long considered to be an anchor of the North Beach gallery circuit, Live Worms is so named after a sign once proffering live fishing bait to the neighborhood. Now helmed by veteran North Beach artist Elizabeth Ashcroft, late of Grey City Gallery, Worms features select solo and group shows in addition to a variety of pop-up exhibitions and events hosted by artists who rent the space. It's surrounded by cafés, restaurants, and local boutiques, making it a natural hub for the First Friday experience.

grand reopening -August 2020

Live Worms, unfortunately, is experiencing some building-related issues and needs to push the opening date for their August show back to the 14th. Come check out their window display as a teaser of the 30-plus group show that will be up in the next week—including their grand reopening on August 14th. The show will remain up during the First Friday on September 4th as well!
