"The Cricus McGurkus! The world's greatest show on the face of the Earth, wherever you go!"
If I Ran A Circus is a live show based around the hit Dr. Seuss book. The show features live actors in symbolic costumes, similar to the Festival of the Lion King. Hand-crafted wooden puppetry is used alongside these costumes to bring the writings of Dr. Seuss to life. Whimsical new songs match Seuss's style while introducing fresh new beats and instruments from around the world.
At the side of the circular stage is a "Noiseometer" indicating how excited the crowd is. At the beginning of the show, the ringleader informs the audience that the Circus needs the Noisometer to remain at a "healthy level" to continue their performance. Thus, we are encouraged to cheer, clap, and shout at the amazing acts to be performed! We are all part of this great display!
The show begins with the ringleader, the Cat in the Hat, arriving by unicycle. The Cat in the Hat (the normal Cat, not the demonic Mike Meyers version currently occupying Mount Crumpit and the Walkthrough), greets us to this wonderful show and presents the first act, the horn-tooting apes of Jorn! The monkeys (men in costumes) blow into a massive cartoonish-looking horn, creating a one-of-a-kind song. The rest of the monkeys tap dance along.
This act leads way to Rolf the Walrus, an amazing walrus that can balance on an ever-increasing number of balls. But as Rolf balance the balls, another character emerges: the Drum-Tumned Snumn from Frumn. The Drum-Tumned Snum drums along, creating a steady beat for the rest of the act.
Guests are divided on one side for Rolf and the other side the Drum-Tumned Snumn, and whichever side makes the most noise "wins" for their side. The Cat in the Hat facilitates this friendly competition, saying it is for the Noiseometer's sake.
Next up: the Blindfolded Bowman, the world's sharpest sharpshooter! A series of increasing ridiculous stunts to see if the bowman can hit his target. The only problem is he keeps comedically shooting off the Cat in the Hat's Big Rd Hat!
After the Blindfolded Bowman comes the Juggling Jott, who juggles a frankly ridiculous number of items as circus music blares. Everyone dances while the Juggling Jott takes on an increasingly insane number of items.
Do you steer without fear? Meet our next act, Sneelock, the man who takes chance after chance! Sneelock performs a series of skate tricks around a course of potted cacti.
But we're not done yet! For our next act, the Zoom A Zoom Troupe performs the world's finest and fanciest Breezy Trapeezing! This act might be the Cat's favorite. Look at how much trust the troupe has in each other! Their trapeezing is surely like no other.
And so with the Zoom A Zoom Troupe, it looks like the show has concluded. But wait! The Cat tells us to remain seated. There is one more great show to be made, sit back and relax, hold all your cheers. Then the Cat disappears.
Confusion. What is going on? Suddenly we see it. Up at the very top of the Circus, the Cat in the Hat is about to perform his very own stunt! Inspired by the craziness on display, the Cat wants to do more than just ringlead, he wants to brave the danger! The others warn the Cat that doing these stunts require great practice and you can't do it with only one try - but he doesn't listen.
The Cat leaps from the top, holding onto a string, and then falls -- right into a fishbowl! Tada! Cheers, claps, shouts! The Noiseometer breaks with too much power, this circus is more successful than anyone could have imagined!
All the acts return on stage to wave us goodbye. The Cat issues a warning to all the kids in the audience, telling them not to do any of the stunts shown on stage. These stunts take great practice and care, and are dangerous at home. But if you put in the work, you too can one day be on this stage!
