Resources for Talking to Your Children About Race

In light of recent events we wanted to share some resources with you. Many articles are being shared about how to talk to your children about race. These are important to read, however it can be difficult to know where to start. Not having a starting point can perpetuate the silence on this topic.

We have chosen a few videos, books, and photos that we feel are good entry points to these critical conversations for young children. The links to the books are video read-alouds so you can get started right away.

Sit down and watch them with your children. Pause often to ask questions. Simple, open-ended questions can be the most powerful - How do you feel about this? What do you think this means? Then follow your child’s lead and search together for more resources - more books, videos, and photos. Engage them in the process and learn together. Talk about ways to turn their learning into action. Look together for organizations to donate to.
