Travis was born on October 25, 1965. He died on June 10 of 2002 after committing suicide. His victims range between 12 to 17, and he was arrested on June 7, 2002. He only operated from 2000-2002. He was also known as the Bi-State Strangler.
Travis was found on video torturing and murdering some of his victims. The tape was found in his home in Fergueson. Two of his victims, Alysia Greenwade (from Missouri, found in Illinois) and Betty James (from Illinois, found in Missouri), are the only two murders he was originally going to be charged for, but he admitted to killing at least seventeen. The police doubt this to be true. From May to October of 2001, four other women were tortured and strangled. One victim was covered in the St. Louis Post Dispatch. Travis responded by sending a letter and map anonymously. Police used the map to trace it back to Travis later. In the letter, Travis said he would show them where the other seventeen were.
He was arrested by U.S. Marshals and housed in the STL County Jail. At his home, torture devices were found, newspaper clippings of some of his victims, a stun gun, and the videotapes. Before going to trial, Travis hung himself.
