Windsor is located on the Ferny Grove line and is served by all train services travelling from Ferny Grove to Roma Street with many continuing to Beenleigh and Coopers Plains. Windsor is located 5.3 km from Roma Street and the approximate travel time is 13 minutes.

Windsor station opened in 1899 at the same time as the line opened to Enoggera which was extended to Samford in 1918 and to Dayboro in 1920. In 1921, the line was duplicated to Newmarket. In 1955, the line was truncated to Ferny Grove. The line was electrified on 17 November 1979.
Windsor was named after the homonymous suburb of Windsor which was named after Windsor Castle.
Windsor station has two platforms consisting of an island platform. Platform 1 is used for inbound services and platform 2 is used for outbound services.
Windsor station has four entrances. Two are from Prospect Road and two are from Eildon Road.
Windsor does have disability access however assistance is required due to the level crossing.
