In 1988, the current station opened as a result of a new 10-kilometre alignment apart of the electrification of the North Coast line. In 2009, the platform was extended with scaffolding and plywood materials. This is only a temporary measure until a permanent structure is put in place. Prior to this people disembarking at Eumundi had to from the first three carriages only.
