I have decided to revamp the whole site for easier readability and to make it easier to use as a resource since I've been bored and quarantining at home. This is a new thing for me, but I thought it would be fun!
So welcome to the new and improved Autism Guide, now complete with sensory ideas, adaptive clothes and shoes, useful apps, and reading material for those new to the neurodiversity movement.
I guess I should start with a little bit about myself!
I'm Elliot, but I'm known to my friends as Egg or Eli. I'm 20 years old, autistic, pretty hard of hearing, I use a wheelchair due to hypermobile type Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, and I am a longtime member and outspoken advocate for disability and LGBTQ+ communities. I work at a high school in a DLC classroom and I'm on my second year at this school! I also help run my school's GSA (Gender Sexuality Alliance) club, which is lots of fun.
I started making this site about two years ago recovering from a major surgery because myself and a youth in my life saw a big need for a place to start once you discover you have unmet sensory needs, and we ran into even more issues researching because all of the resources out there seem to be geared towards kids. This is a problem because autism isn't something you grow out of, and there is no adequate what-do-I-do type resources for autistic teens and adults. We need resources that target adults and teens as well as younger kids, which is how my Sensory Room Masterpost blossomed into this beautiful website. It's a lot of fun because I get to learn new internet literacy skills and you get help you won't find many other places on the Internet.
I'm a pretty mixed bag sensory-wise, so I observed students, asked friends and family, and researched in support groups to find missing areas I don't recognize the need for immediately. I also built a feedback form into the site if you have your own suggestions!
Each month's blog posts will be moved to the Archives page once the month is over, starting with October. So stay tuned, welcome, and I hope you have fun!

Hi all! I am writing to update on here with my fundraiser for a new wheelchair! I am facing increasing issues at home and work because I need a new wheelchair, but I can't cover the costs alone. I am hoping if I meet my goal I will be able to get back to living life and having fun! Feel free to click the button and check it out, and I'll see y'all back soon!

I have spent some time dealing with health concerns and employment, so I am glad to be returning to this site.
I am currently working towards independent living programs for disabled people, and I plan on being more active in blogging and writing on here when that comes through! I also have made some career and education decisions and I am excited to be setting goals for the future again. You can keep up on Twitter at @egg0nwheels.
Thanks all, and see you next time!
