One of Self Care-apy's main objectives is to spread awareness of self-care and its importance in preventing self-neglect. Self-neglect is defined as the refusal or inability to meet the basic needs to living of an individual. This can include not keeping good hygiene, being late to work/school, and even eating unhealthy. Self-neglect is what prevents people to not incorporating self-care into their daily lives causing them to become in bad conditions that are physically, spiritually, and mentally unhealthy. This is why our team has the goal of helping others who struggle with self-neglect to have more importance to taking care of themselves and that they are all important people to us.
Risk factors are the things that influence people to become associated with negative emotions and situations. This includes anything that is biological, psychological, and social factors that are individually focused or even within our families, and communities. Whenever there are more risk factors there is a higher likelihood of creating dangerous problems. Self Care-apy has risk factors that specifically go under self-neglect.
Our Main Risk Factors include:
-Anxiety/immense stress
-Loneliness
-*Needing to help to set a healthy routine*
These risk factors influence us and our community to neglect our mental health. Anxiety and immense stress oftentimes distract us from doing self-care activities. Even though self-care is crucial to coping with stress and anxiety, not doing so will cause more serious problems such as depression and feelings of hopelessness which result to having suicidal thoughts. Loneliness is as important of a risk factor as it can cause individuals to reflect deeply about themselves to the point of self-criticizing themselves which can sever one's mental health. A lack of a healthy routine is ultimately the reason why these emotions can arise. This is why setting a healthy routine or setting self-care activities are most important to keep a good mental and body. Setting a routine is an example of a protective factor as it helps to lower the effects of risk factors or to prevent negative outcomes that can happen due to risk factors.

Our Main Protective Factor is:
Setting a healthy routine (Self-care activities)
As mentioned before, setting a routine is the most important to keeping a good mental as it includes self-care activities which are activities that will support our mental health into becoming more relaxed and also more optimistic in our daily life. Examples of self-care activities are meditation, praying, talking to a friend or a person/group you are close to, or even basic needs to do in your daily life like exercising and keeping good hygiene. By setting a routine with self-care activities, it can be a good way for individuals to cope with stress/anxiety as well to be more socially involved with other people (and not becoming socially isolated).
