This is an optional part of the process, if you would like to include additional writing opportunties for your students.
The individual student story matters as we embark on inquiry.
We are going to dig deeply into a real world adventure of navigating questions, ideas and solutions and the end game is to synthesize new information which propels us towards innovation. However, the inquiry process should also include active and empowered journalists who document their reflections, share their voice and collaborate with others IN the story.
We want to think like a journalist along the way -
documenting and reflecting the process, not just the outcome.
Talk with your students about WHY the "thinking work" matters. Have a class discussion and sketchnote ideas together.
When we reflect and think about our work along the way, our process improves. By noticing and reflecting, we can 'think about our thinking'. What are we doing to move our work along? What is working? What isn't? What should we celebrate? What strategies/ideas will we use next week?
Give your students the opportunity to answer genuine questions about their thinking via Flipgrid, Padlet wall, Google Slides, Jamboard, Book Creator, in a journal, or what tool works for YOU!
