GPS Monitoring

GPS monitoring is used on the equipment that’s working the garbage. GPS is not used to make sure the equipment gets lost like we use GPS in our cars, but GPS is used to measure elevation and how densely garbage is packed (accurate to within an inch). With this system workers can also remotely monitor the operators and equipment. It’s a pretty remarkable system.

Above is a screen grab with a very rough rendering. Green areas are where they have reached maximum compaction. Blue areas are still being compacted. The wire frame is our final elevations that they are slowly working toward. During normal operations you can watch the equipment roll around in real time. They can also adjust the map to highlight different points of data/manipulate colors/etc.
