The first firearm I've ever owned was a cz75b omega, CZ scorpion, a Turkish Mauser, and a LWRC DI. Those aren't necessarily my recommendations for you, but this is the list I went through to choose them. For MY recommendations, go to page Defense Selection

When I was a new gun-owner, I chose comfort and beauty first, and media pop-culture as the second, and reliability third. The CZ75b has amazing palm swells grip panels and the best grip angle frame of all guns I've held, better than the Beretta and Browning hi power. I found out they're also one of the most reliable and durable guns other than the less than $5 two small parts that break often. Their heavy weight also makes them great for range matches and they have very high accuracy
The CZ scorpion was the carbine I wanted because it was the most beautiful to look at and that's all that mattered for that one. Turned out it also has some of the best user-friendly controls and features too.
Don't feel bad if you want a gun because you liked it in a video game or movie. Hundreds of thousands have bought .44 magnums because of Dirty Harry or got a single action army or lever gun because of a TV show or movie. Get whatever you want.
