Preparation

The workshop will be held on zoom. We together will evolve one single miro whiteboard for common notes, sketches, and sticky notes. Both zoom and miro do offer apps (and we recommend using them); however, both also perfectly work in your browser. For general communication, we will use the conference's discord server. That's all we need in tools.

After a year of living with the pandemic we all miss the opportunities to meet each other in person and be part of the larger community, so we’d like to try and create a more interactive workshop that’s not just based on listening to talks, but give us time to discuss different topics similar to what one might do when sitting around a table working/chatting in small groups in breakout sessions in a more informal manner. To facilitate this, we’d like to invite you to gather a few things before the meeting (examples will follow):

  • for the icebreaker (find two examples below )

      • an image of yourself (does not have to be serious or formal)

      • an image that helps others understand where you live/work

      • an image that highlights your interest in VR or what you do in the VR context

      • one fun fact about yourself that even your colleagues might not know

      • what is one main thing you’d like to get out of this workshop?

      • where can we find out more about you (e.g., URL to your website)

  • make sure you have zoom and discord running and your mic and camera ready before the workshop

  • whenever your internet speed allows, please have your camera on so we can engage more easily

  • consider having a pencil and paper ready for sketching (or your tablet or whatever other fancy devices you like to use for sketching)

  • bring your own coffee/drinks/whatever you’d like to have to enjoy the final social part of our workshop (depending on your timezone)! - one of the advantages of online meetings is that there are no alcohol etc. restrictions
