The Sustainable Decision and Soft Computing Laboratory (SDSC Lab) develops optimization and computational models to support decisions in energy policy, sustainable supply chains, and the circular economy. We connect analytical methods with real-world policy and management challenges.
Dr. Hsin-Wei Hsu founded the laboratory at Chung Yuan Christian University in summer 2020. It builds on his work in food sustainability at Tunghai University, research in soft computing and fuzzy optimization, and experience in energy policy at ITRI. The laboratory moved to National Taipei University of Technology in February 2023.
Our guiding principle, S² > (S + S), expresses the value of combining sustainability and soft computing. We use a human-centered approach to examine trade-offs, uncertainty, and practical options for a more sustainable future.
We value curiosity, persistence, independent thinking, timely communication, and a willingness to learn mathematics and programming. Students interested in sustainability are encouraged to learn about the lab’s research and contact the principal investigator.
