Ginther Scholars
Each year a select number of undergraduate degree-seeking students in SCPS are named Ginther Scholars. This is the only SCPS scholarship that requires the submission of an additional application. Interested students can read more further down on this page.

Application Requirements
Students must complete all scholarship requirements listed below by the scholarship application deadline. Students must:
Be enrolled in 9 credit hours for the fall semester (includes session I and II).
Have completed the FAFSA for the appropriate academic year if you want to be considered for need-based scholarships.
Complete a scholarship application (whether annual or semester)
If a student fails to meet any of the eligibility criteria or complete all application requirements by the application and enrollment deadlines, the SCPS Scholarship Committee will not review the student’s application. Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted. No exceptions.
Eligibility Requirements
All undergraduate degree-seeking students in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies are eligible to apply except for:
Students awarded the SCPS Fellows Scholarship.
Students awarded the One Million Degree Scholarship.
Students who are receiving Loyola University employee tuition benefits.
Merit-Based Scholarships
Students must have a 3.0 Loyola cumulative GPA.
If a student has below a 3.0 cumulative GPA due to credit hours completed five or more years ago as a student in a different school or college at Loyola, the student is eligible for the award if they earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies.
Students in their first session will not need to meet a specific GPA requirement until their second semester.
Need-Based Scholarships
Students must have a 2.0 Loyola cumulative GPA.
Students must have a FAFSA completed for the appropriate academic year.

Enrollment Deadlines (Annual Application)
Fall Semester (Fall I and Fall II) – June 1 (coincides with annual application deadline)
Spring Semester (Spring I and Spring II) – December 1
Summer Semester (6-Week I/II and 8-Week 1) – April 1
The enrollment deadlines are set to allow for the distribution of your scholarship dollars before the first eBill is generated for the semester. Scholarship disbursement for the semester cannot be completed if the student is not enrolled by the enrollment deadline.
Award Distribution
If students are enrolled by the enrollment deadline, scholarship awards will post to a student's account 7-10 days after the deadline.
Ginther Scholars
Each year a select number of degree-seeking students in the School of Continuing & Professional Studies (SCPS) are named Ginther Scholars. Recipients receive an award from the Marie M. Ginther Scholarship to assist them in covering tuition costs for the academic year. This scholarship program is named for Marie M. Ginther (BBA ’87).
Eligibility Requirements
SCPS Students must meet the following eligibility requirements to apply for the Ginther scholarship:
Be a degree-seeking student in SCPS
Working toward the completion of first undergraduate degree
Completed 12 or more credit hours at Loyola University Chicago
Have a 3.0 Loyola cumulative GPA.
If a student has below a 3.0 cumulative GPA due to credit hours completed five or more years ago as a student in a different school or college at Loyola, the student is eligible for the award if they earn a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in the School of Continuing and Professional Studies
Application Requirements
In addition to the general (annual) application, students must submit a Ginther scholarship application within Loyola's Scholarship Connection.
have completed the FAFSA for the appropriate academic year.
submit a 400-500 word essay (within Loyola's Scholarship Connection) addressing the following:
Describe a meaningful volunteer experience you’ve had?
How did this experience change you?
From a financial standpoint, what impact would this scholarship have on your education?
