In February 2019, BSA Troop 5 of Ann Arbor inducted Troop 5G. We are the only BSA Troop for girls in the city and one of the first in the nation! We are also the only troop in the area who partners with an established BSA troop. We are a separate troop with a female Scoutmaster but we share the same BSA charter. Adult leaders from Troop 5 and Troop 5G work together to facilitate co-ed merit badge trainings and plan wilderness adventures.
Since February 2019, the Scouts in Troop 5G have made great progress on their journey to become Eagle Scouts. To do this, our Scouts learned, practiced, and demonstrated increasingly advanced skills for wilderness survival, emergency preparedness, personal fitness, first aid, and nature conservation.
BSA Scouts Troop 5G uses outdoor recreation and community service to develop youth leadership and STEM skills. Citizenship, integrity, and self-reliance are core values of our program. In 2019, our Scouts performed nearly one hundred hours of community service. They also planned and participated in monthly campouts and attended a week-long BSA summer camp.
We want Scouting to be accessible to ALL youth. You can support Troop 5G by raising awareness about our program, referring a potential Scout, or by pledging your financial support.
Our annual popcorn fundraiser runs now through October. 73-75% of the price you pay for popcorn goes directly to local Scouting. We use these funds to purchase gear, buy supplies, pay for trainings, and to provide scholarships. When you order popcorn from a specific Scout you help them earn their own way to summer camp. Thank you for supporting the next generation of community leaders.
We are currently planning high adventure trips to Isle Royale and Pictured Rocks for 2020. Do you know someone who might like to join us? We enthusiastically welcome new members! Youth must be at least 11 years old and have completed the fifth grade to join Scouting (unless they have earned their Arrow of Light award as a Webelos in Cub Scouts). We meet on Tuesday nights at Calvary United Methodist Church in Ann Arbor. To learn more, check out our website, visit our meeting, or contact our Scoutmaster: Troop5Girls [at] gmail.com.
Fall is popcorn season! 73-75% of the price stays local. Order popcorn from Troop 5G and help a Scout earn their own way to camp.
