Spat from the Glaswegian scene with driving guitars and caustic punk sensibilities at their core, The Dunts have rapidly become one of Scotland’s hottest exports; demanding attention and gaining momentum with their incomparable punk sound.
Boasting vicious yet intelligently energetic anthems, The Dunts recorded both their debut EP ‘Not Working Is Class’ and highly-anticipated follow up ‘Self Proclaimed Council Punk’ with producers Chris Marshall (Gerry Cinnamon, Rascalton, The Van-T’s) and Johnny Madden (of Baby Strange).
Gaining ardent radio support from BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway, Radio X’s John Kennedy and BBC Radio 1’s Huw Stephens on their debut releases, their latest singles ‘Marilyn’ and ‘Bad Decisions’ won over tastemakers such as BBC Radio 1’s Jack Saunders and Annie Mac.
Following positive this reception, The Dunts made their first trip to Maida Vale studios - a live session on The Indie Show with Jack Saunders - before headlining Scotland’s first Hopscotch gig. They continue to receive recurrent plays on global tastemaker stations like Los Angeles’ KROQ and famed US college radio stations.
Their electric live performances have rewarded them with exhilarating sold-out shows in hometown venues such as Stereo, King Tuts, The Garage, Priory, as well as sold-out shows in Edinburgh and Aberdeen. Filing in at Tenement Trail, The Dunts played Glasgow’s famed Barrowlands which has only inspired them further. The four-piece kick off 2020 with a headline performance at SWG3.
Their rocketing reputation has taken them to festival stages at Reading & Leeds, TRNSMT, Cabaret Vert, Electric Fields, Belladrum, Live At Leeds, Hit The North and SXSW - their first international trip as a band.
Set to start work on their debut album, The Dunts promise more Glaswegian punk offerings; their attitude so far inspiring NME to comment “Their fast-living, politically infused anthems make the band a strong force to be reckoned with. If you haven’t heard of The Dunts, you soon will.”
United by an undeniable ferocity and tongue-in-cheek sensibilities, The Dunts are Rab Smith, David McFarlane, Colin McGachy and Kyle McGhee.
