For our in-server tickets, we use Ticket Tool !
We use tickets instead of dm'ing staff in order to keep as much communication in-server as possible. As well as for record-keeping, having our staff team aware of tickets instead of individual staff dm's also makes sure that information is as accurate and timely as possible, as well as holding everyone accountable to answer questions in a timely manner and to keep better track of internal workings of the server.
For record-keeping, our ticket tool keeps a log of a ticket even after it's been closed, and it's easy for the staff to access those records if the contents of the ticket ever need to be pulled back up for any reason, and they're all stored in a central location, so we don't have to go looking through dm's to find any specific information. Also, tickets are able to have any other server members added to them, so we can have private discussions in-server without having to make individual group-chats in dm's.
You can use a ticket for just about anything! The intentions we had in mind when deciding to implement a ticket system were for:
Internal server conflict resolution
Adding things to the content-warning list
Check-ins
Character ideation
Adoptable creation
NPC-making
Character planning
Litter planning
Private chats with staff
We all do our best to keep our environment a safe and happy place for everyone, but we also know that as people, conflicts are bound to arise unintentionally. As the staff of a server, we are committed to our position not only as world-builders, but community maintainers. If you have an issue with another member of the server, if someone is doing something that makes you uncomfortable, we advise you to make a ticket to let staff know of the situation. Even if the decided plan of action is for you to dm them personally to discuss things between yourselves, letting us know what's going on allows us to keep an eye out for anything in the future and make sure we're doing our part to keep our server a welcoming environment for all of it's members. Additionally, if you decide you'd like to have a discussion of that sort in-server so that it is moderated, we are happy to make a fresh ticket with you and any other party to have that discussion in-server.
You are welcome to use our help and questions channels to add things to the in-server content warning list, but if there is anything you want added to the list that, for whatever the reason, you don't want to say in front of other server members, you can go ahead and make a ticket. We won't ask any questions (outside of clarifying the specifics of the content warning itself, so that we may make sure we understand and are able to properly moderate our channels) and we do not require an explanation of why the content is triggering. We will add the warning to our list and notify the server it has been added, and we will not disclose who has requested the addition.
While there are no mandatory activity checks in Scorched Paws, and we are completely understanding that people have lives and priorities outside of the server, if we notice a sudden decrease in activity or unexpected disappearance from roleplay or out-of-character chatter, we may pull you into a private ticket just to check in and make sure everything is alright, and to let you know we're here to help with what we can.
You're also free to make a ticket on your own to let us know you plan to go on hiatus, or are experiencing burnout related to the server, and we can do our best to try and alleviate some of the stress. Scorched paws is meant to be a place to relax, so we will do what we can to make sure our server isn't a stressful experience, and that everyone looks forward to hopping on after a long day!
Sometimes we have characters half-cooked, but can't quite get the full picture of them before we submit our next oc, and that's totally fine! If you want to have a one-on-one conversation dedicated to discussing possible character ideas, designs, relationships, and backstories, go ahead and make a ticket and we'd be happy to help! As facilitators of the roleplay, the staff is here to make sure you end up playing a character you love to play, and a character everyone loves to see!
While you can submit an adopt profile without making a ticket, if you want to go over an adopt idea to help flesh it out, build connections, or anything else you might need assistance with, feel free to make a ticket and we'd be happy to help you with making your adopt!
Making an NPC is one of the few things that requires making a ticket, as the staff needs a record of everything regarding the NPC creation in order to make a profile and be able to adequately play them. We're here to help with every step of the process, from designing the NPCS to working on the backstory and how they connect to your character.
Additionally, we will discuss what you want to get out of having the NPC around. What kind of interactions are you looking for? What kind of plots will include this character? Then, we will make a server-profile for the character, and post it after you've approved it!
Have a character you love but just don't feel like they've got much going on? Have an idea for a plot that you need some assistance executing? Want to do something as a surprise for the rest of your fellow members? Well a ticket might be just the thing! The staff is always here to help when it comes to future plots, relationship development, and ideas surrounding existing characters. We want to make sure you have a fun experience playing your character long-term, and coming up with and planning character arcs is one way to achieve that goal.
Alongside NPC creation, litter planning is an activity that requires making a ticket. Just like with NPCs, the staff needs a record of everything involving the litter, including how many kits are being expected, their designs and names, and what the future plans are involving the entire family, all of which the staff is happy to assist with. Initially, only the players of the parent(s) will be in the ticket, while we discuss the litter's designs and names, and plan the application. See the character creation rules on how our litter adopt process are done in full. Then, once applications are done and players for the litter are chosen, we can either use the same ticket and add them in or make a clean ticket, up to you! There, you'll be able to discuss family dynamics, plans, and plots you want for our newest additions to the server!
Have something you want to talk about with staff privately that doesn't quite fit into any of these categories? That's perfectly fine! Everyone is free to use the ticket system for anything they feel they want to discuss with the staff privately. We will not disclose the contents of tickets with anyone outside of those in the ticket (staff and whoever else you request) without explicit permission from you, so you can treat the ticket as a safe space to come to us with ideas, concerns, suggestions, or anything else you wish to tell us!
