Yes, you can apply for both an RP and a PP, however, if both are recommended for funding, a PI may only accept one award.
RPs are eligible for IDCs; PPs are not. There should be no mention of IDCs in a PP budget justification.
IDCs are on top of the direct costs. Some things like tuition and equipment, while a part of the direct costs, cannot be used for IDC calculations.
This Pilot Project is for either developing a new Course-Based Undergraduate Research Experience (CUREs) course or to redesign a current research course into a CUREs course. It is not for developing a new traditional course – it must be a CUREs course.
Yes, 50% release time is still required.
To be eligible to apply, clinical faculty must be tenure-track or receive tenure-track status by the end of the grant. A letter of institutional support needs to attest to the promise of tenure-track commitment.
Yes, postdocs can apply for our funding IF they hold a faculty appoinment.
For MSP, the student is the PI on the grant.
Letters of Intent are for planning purposes only to give the SC INBRE Program Office an idea of the approximate number of the proposals we might be receiving and to begin to arrange reviewers, thus expediting the review process as much as is possible. You will receive a confirmation of your submission from our office with your form responses, but we will not review or send an acceptance. Once you receive the confirmation, you can then submit a proposal.
As stated on our website, we will not accept proposals without the LOI submission.
Yes, they can, but the proposal does need to state that the Period of Performance will be September 1, 2026 through their graduation date (i.e., May 26, 2027).
No. The only travel permitted would be to a domestic scientific meeting to present work that was generated under the proposal. Reasonable travel cost to one meeting to present would be acceptable (estimating a cost of ~$1,500/max). Please contact us if questions.
