Plant and Animal Cells
Plant Cell - A cell that is found in a plant.
Animal Cell - A cell that is found in an animal.
He is the first person to observe dead cells from a cork under a microscope.
He is the first person to observe living cells under a microscope.
Cells are the basic unit of life and functions of all living things.
A plant cell has a rectangular shape because of its cell wall.
A plant cell and a plant have the same color green, because of chloroplast and chlorophyl.
The chloroplast is the organelle (machine) while chlorophyl is the pigment (product).
Organelles are the structures inside of a cell and each of them have a specific task.
Types of Organelles in a Cell
A nucleus contains the Genetic Material which is Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) and is the brain of the cell.
Centrioles have the role in cell division which means multiplying themselves to make more.
Mitochondria is the powerhouse from the cell and it gets its energy from it.
Ribosomes are the organelles that produces proteins.
The Golgi Apparatus & Vesicles has the job to package the proteins.
This has a passage through which proteins are transported.
There are two types which are:
Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum (SER)
Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum (RER)
The cell membrane surrounds the cell and controls what goes in and out of the cell.
It has a matrix that holds the organelles.
Only Things found in Plant Cells
Only Things found in Animal Cells
1. Glycogen Granules
2. No Cells Wall
3. Lysosomes - contain digestive enzymes
4. Small Vacuoles
Fact : Enzyme - chemical that breaks down the food.
Another Fact : The difference between the vacuoles in the two cells is their size.
Animal : Small
Plant : Big
