Gudrun Reichenauer

Since 2000, Gudrun Reichenauer is head of the Nanomaterials group at ZAE Bayern, a non-profit research organization dedicated to Applied Energy Research. After her PhD in Physics at Würzburg University, Germany, she pursued her career as research assistant at the Bavarian Center for Applied Energy Research (ZAE Bayern), at the Physics Institute of Würzburg University (1993-1998) and finally at the Princeton University and the Princeton Institute for the Science and Technology of Materials (NJ, USA, 1999-2000) before joining ZAE Bayern again.

Since her PhD she worked on different aspects synthesis and characterization of aerogels and xerogels as well as composites based hereon. Her scientific interests cover the use of nanoeffects and the synthesis of well-scalable nanomaterials for applications in energy technology and the development of new methods for the fast and artifact-free characterization of nanoporous materials. State-of the art in characterization of aerogels can be found in her contribution to the Aerogels Handbook.
