This website was created by Tania Chaney, Georgi de Stigter, and Abegail Romualdo.
It responds to the growing need within the education and public sphere to better understand school attendance problems. In particular, the difficulty that neurodiverse mokopuna (children and young people) face in attending school.
School attendance and engagement have been at the forefront of the public eye for the first six months of 2024. Our regional research group in North West Auckland found that school attendance problems are wide-ranging, frustrating and highly individualised by nature.
This site has been developed to support educators, whānau, mokopuna and other professionals to understand school distress and how to overcome it to promote success and equity for all mokopuna in education in Aotearoa.
