INSTRUCTIONS FOR DESIGNING AN Autumn Night SCENE IN MICROSOFT WORD
Open a new blank document in Microsoft Word.
Go to Save as
Save your document as Night Scene Your Name in your class under DropBox.
1. Using the Layout Tab, change the Orientation to “Landscape.”
2. Create a nighttime sky background by inserting a large rectangle that covers the sky area.
a. Use the Insert tab, then click on Shapes, and choose the rectangle shape
b. Fill with a grey or black gradient Use the Shape Format tab, go to Shape Fill, and choose Gradient, the shape must be selected.
3. Create Green grass by inserting a rectangle under the sky
a. Fill with dark green color Use the Shape Format tab, go to Shape Fill, and choose Shape Fill.
4. Create an owl for your night scene using shapes it should take up about ¼ or the page
a. The head should be a circle, change the color to brown
b. The body should be an oval, change the color to brown
c. Add eyes with small circles, change the color to black
d. Add a beak and ears with triangles, change the color to yellow, or orange
e. Add wings to make it fly with long triangles, insert a triangle making it very wide, change the color to brown, place it over the owl, using the circle at the top turn the triangle over.
5. Use the shape tools to add a moon and a few starts to your sky. Use the same process you used to make your pumpkin.
a. Fill your moon and stars with yellow color
6. Make a pumpkin using the shapes tools. The pumpkin should only take up about ¼ of the page.
a. Go the Insert tab, click on Shapes, and choose the shape you want your pumpkin to be.
b. Fill with an orange color (Click on your pumpkin to make sure it is highlighted, then use the Format tab, go to Shape Fill, and choose the color you want.
c. Give your pumpkin a stem, eyes, nose, and a mouth to turn it into a jack-o-lantern. Use the same steps you used for your pumpkin to draw these features and fill them with color.
d. Make your pumpkin cast a shadow, based on its position with the moon.
i. Go to the Format tab, click on Shadow Effects, and choose the appropriate shadow
