Standards:
"4-PS3-2. Make observations to provide evidence that energy can be transferred from place to place by sound, light, heat, and electric currents" (NGSS Lead States, 2013).
Objectives:
Students will be able to define and describe potential and kinetic energy
Description: The third lesson in the unit will beheld VIA Zoom synchronously. Studnets will all log into a Zoom session and receive direct instruction from their teacher. Studnets will then enter breakout rooms where they will either read more about kinetic or potential energy. They will work with their group to read, take notes and learn about their assigned type of energy. To end the lesson students will jigsaw and share their findings with a partner who investigated the other type of energy.
Reteaching: During the small group breakout rooms teacher will circulate and assist studnets with scaffold and support. The teacher will be there to guide students who may need additional help.
Exit Ticket Formative Assessment: Studnets will use a GoogleForm to answer the following question- If you learned about kinetic energy, define and describe potential energy. If you learned about potential, define and describe kinetic energy. This exit ticket will be used as data so the teacher can inform small group instruction.
