Introduced in 1962, the Model 340C was a carbine version of the Model 340. Originally available only in 30-30 WCF, the barrel length was 18 1/2". Later production of this model was .22 Hornet, .222 Remington and again 30-30 in a longer 22" barrel. The commencement of production of the 340C in .22 Hornet replaced the Model 342.
This particular rifle has a 6 digit ser # on the right front of the receiver. It does not have a letter prefix.
