Transforming ideas into reality through innovative design

Hello, I'm Santiago Chavez, a passionate and innovative board designer and an electrical engineer from CU Boulder. With a strong background in power engineering, I have successfully designed four unique boards that showcase my extensive knowledge in the field and commitment to efficient, functional board design.

The first board I designed features a 555 timer driving LEDs with a 50% duty cycle, demonstrating my ability to work with fundamental components and create effective designs. The second board serves as a demonstration of good and bad practices in designing PCBs, highlighting my understanding of critical design principles and common pitfalls. The third board is an optimized Arduino board with a better layout, design practices, and improved signal integrity compared to the original board, showcasing my skills in refining existing designs for better performance.

In addition to these boards, I have designed a buck converter, a boost converter, an AC inverter, and an MPPT solar tracking algorithm using the Piccolo MSP microcontroller family. These projects, along with the combined project that integrates the converters, the MPPT algorithm, and the AC inverter with a solar panel to maximize power point tracking, highlight my expertise in power engineering.

Throughout my portfolio, I also share my experiences from conducting multiple labs that demonstrate good design practices and educate others on the common mistakes to avoid in board design. My goal is to inspire others to learn from both my achievements and my missteps.

As you explore my portfolio, I invite you to delve deeper into my designs, my thought process, and my passion for board design and power engineering. I am eager to continue refining my skills and expanding my knowledge in the field, and I am confident that my work will speak to my capabilities and potential.

Thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio, and I look forward to any opportunities to collaborate and create exceptional board designs together.

Sincerely,

Santiago Chavez
