Ph.D. students
Somesh Nandi
Somesh completed his M.Sc in Biochemistry from University of Calcutta, Kolkata, India and joined the Institute as a PhD student in 2015. He is currently investigating the role of receptor Guanylyl Cyclase C in colorectal cancer.
Kritica Sharma
Kritica completed her M.Sc in Zoology from Hindu College, University of Delhi and joined the institute as a PhD student in 2019. She will be working on a hyperactivating mutation of Guanylyl Cyclase C using mouse models.
Moubani Chakraborty
Moubani completed her M.Sc in Biotechnology from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, India and joined the Institute as a PhD student in 2016. She is currently studying the cyclic nucleotide binding proteins in mycobacteria.
Harsh Kumar
Harsh joined the lab in 2019 as a joint PhD student with Dr. Vaishnavi Ananthanarayanan, BSSE. He completed his BS-MS from IISER, Bhopal (majoring in Physics). Currently, he is interested in understanding the pore forming toxins of Yersinia enterocolitica.
Dr. John K Matthew
John received his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from Yerevan State Medical University, Armenia. He went on to do his Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Anatomy from Christian Medical College, Vellore, India, and continued work there as an Assistant Professor. He joined the lab through the MD-PhD program in 2021. He is interested in cancer research and currently working on colorectal cancer.
Dharitri Choudhary
Dharitri joined the laboratory in August 2022 after completing her MSc from the University of Calcutta, Kolkata. She is interested in looking at the role of GC-C in infection with gut pathogens and overall gut physiology in GC-C knock-in mouse models.
Vibhor Gaikwad
Vibhor joined the Centre for Biosystems Science and Engineering under the supervision of Prof. Sidharth Jhunjhunwala and Prof. Sandhya S. Visweswariah. He completed his MS from IISER Pune and will study immune cells in knock-in mouse models of GC-C.

Dr. Hari Prasad
Hari received his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Masters in Medical Science and Technology (MMST) from K.S. Hegde Medical Academy, Mangalore and Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, respectively. After receiving his Ph.D in Cellular and Molecular Medicine from The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore in 2018, he joined the lab as an Early Career Fellow from the Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance. His research focuses on understanding the molecular characteristics of colorectal cancer in the Indian scenario.
