This artifact is a certificate of attendance for a First Year Teacher Summit that I participated with on August 12, 2023. In this summit, we went over helpful tips and tricks that can make a first year as a teacher go smoothly. We given advice on how to partner with our principal, how to become strong and confident with classroom management, planning out your week in advance so we have a clear direction of where we will be, exploring culturally responsive teaching with books, earning a degree while experiecing your first year, and lastly 6 steps to thrive in the first year. According to the Illinois State Standard 9A, "evaluates best practices and research-based materials against benchmarks within the disciplines;" I have achieved this standard due to the fact that I have been investing in the opportunity to learn best practices from credible educators and was provided various materials to guide and help first year teachers.
This artifact is my mandated reporter training certificate of completion. This artifact is reflective of Illinois Professional Teaching Standard 9B,"knows laws and rules (e.g., mandatory reporting, sexual misconduct, corporal punishment) as a foundation for the fair and just treatment of all students and their families in the classroom and school; " because I have gone through the training that informs me of when to make reports of possible abuse and neglect and how to go about addressing the possibility. Additionally, I have learned who is a mandated reporter and the various steps that can go into making the report. Advocating for our students is a priority as well as ensuring their safety and wellbeing to the best of our abilities.
