This artifact is my written Classroom Management Plan written in the Spring of 2023 for Educational Psychology. In this plan, I address topics such as motivation, technology, snacking, and giving grace. This plan address the Illinois State Professional Teaching Standard 3H, "establishes high expectations for each student’s learning and behavior;". This plan addresses this standard because I am looking into how to best serve a classroom of students who are in the high school setting. Being in this setting, there are going to be higher expectations than they have previously experienced due to their age and abilities. That being said, it is important to implement a plan that is a foundation foe how the classroom could be run and how to go about preventing distracting and unnecessary behaviors. To do so, I plan on laying a level of respect down in the classroom between both the students and me, the educator, as well as other faculty and staff members, and others who enter the classroom. Additionally, it is important to recognize that students are still learning and not meant to be perfect, but will make mistakes which is where grace will take effect in my classroom management.
This artifact is a lesson plan that was done in the Fall of 2023. The lesson plan is for examining quotes and their meanings from Trevor Noah's memoir, Born A Crime. In the plan, there is differentiation for the whole class, groups of students with similar needs, and for students with IEPs or 504 plans. Each plan is tailored and unique to each class and their abilities. The artifact address Illinois Professional Teaching Standard 3C, "understands cultural, linguistic, cognitive, physical, and social and emotional differences, and considers the needs of each student when planning instruction;". This is addressed by the way I have made this plan unique to this specific class of studnets. I took a look into their plans, ensuring that the accommodations made are both fair and per the IEP or 504 plans that were held by various individuals. It is valuable to recognize the strengths of each students and planning for how to best serve them in education and how to guide them to success.
