This project revolves around how social media impacts me as a whole.
After taking the "AM I ADDICTED TO SOCIAL MEDIA?" quiz it became a little more clear that I need to take a step back from the screen time that I dedicate to social media. The results I got said the following.
You're fairly reliant on social media, but there are far worse culprits! Still, it's good to be reminded that UK adults spend an average of 8 hrs 41 mins on screens every day, and 4 hours of that on smartphone apps alone (mainly social media). That's about a third of each day checking apps. Do you need to rethink your social media habits and the amount of time you spend scrolling?
I do agree with these results and think that I need to focus my screen time on something with more purpose.
The most interesting stat that I found in the articles provided was the most used social media platforms. I thought that Instagram would have been over Facebook, but statistics show that YouTube and Facebook take first and second place ranking in the most used social media accounts.
In my opinion social media has had a intense impact on society. Social media has shaped the way that we communicate and obtain information while interacting with the world around us. I believe social media has changed all different aspects of our lives, from personal connections or relationships to something as big as global movements.
The biggest lesson I learned during this assignment is that I need to spend more time away from my phone. I believe that the longer amount of screen time I consume the more my mood is negatively affected. I think that it is important for me to dedicate the majority of my screen time to my education and online courses. I didn't realize how addicting social media can be when you make "logging on" an everyday routine.
