Recently, some schools have abolished the rule that girls wear skirts and boys wear pants.
The reasons are to recognize gender diversity and to protect against the cold.
School rules are needed, but some rules are too strict. In fact, my junior high school also had extremely strict school rules. For example, bangs are above eyeblows and no high ponytail allowed etc.
However, recently there has been a movement to change the strict school rules. The student council, education committee, and PTA work together to reflect students' opinions in school rules. This is a revolution!
At graduation ceremonies, there is a culture in which a boy gives the second button of his uniform to the girl he likes, or a girl receives the second button from the boy she likes. This culture is only found in Japan!
The second button is located exactly at the heart. The heart of the organ = the heart, which apparently means that I like you.
In Japan, there is a culture of changing into indoor shoes when you arrive at school. Why?
Teachers can keep an eye on students to keep them safe.
In junior high and high schools, the colors of shoes and gym clothes are determined by grade, such as red, green, or blue. This is probably to make it easier to determine which grade the student is in.
When I looked into whether this culture exists outside of Japan, I found that in Indonesia, there are different colors for each school, but not for each grade. Red for elementary school students, dark blue for junior high school students, and gray for high school students. I thought it was interesting that the colors are different for each school, not for each grade.
